SPRING NAIL POLISH PICKS

In the spring I think it's nice to mix things up and invest in a few new polishes. A few weeks ago I picked up some new shades perfect for the time of year. The pale and pastel shades definitely took my fancy, here a few of my faves...

Loreal Les Blancs collection in Nouvelle Vauge £4.99 - I've tried a few Loreal nail varnishes in the past and they've always impressed, so when I saw the new Les Blancs collection I knew I had to pick one up. I think there is around 5 in the collection, they are all like an on off white polish with a hint of colour with this one being a light purple. I love that the brush is really wide, it makes it so easy and quick to paint your nails. There's also a really cute yellow in the collection with the cutest name, Lemon Meringue. I need.

Tanya Burr in Mini Marshmallows £5.99 - Out of the bunch, this one needs the most patience. I applied around three to four coats before I was happy with the colour, however if you don't mind waiting around to apply a few layers this is a really lovely nail varnish. When I wore it last week, loads of people asked me what I had on. It's not too in your face or too nude it's just the perfect light pink.

Barry M Jelly in Huckleberry £3.99 - This is probably my favourite of the lot. The formula of the Jelly range is so good and such good quality there isn't really a bad thing to say about them. They apply really easily, look opaque after one coat and have really good lasting power. I think this particular shade is from a new collection of pastel shades, I'm sure I'll be back to pick up a few more soon.

Models Own Hyper Gel in Naked Glow £5.00 - I'd heard quite a bit about this collection before I picked up this polish so I was expecting good things. This definitely isn't a bad nail polish, it's the perfect nude shade and had amazing colour pay off after just one coat however I just found the formula to be a bit thick and the brush was a little thin. I'll reserve this one for a pamper evening, where I have a little more time to sit down and enjoy painting the talons.

Topshop in Keen £5.00 - For whatever technical reasoning beyond my understanding, the photos haven't picked up the true colour of the polishes very well. In real life it's a lot lighter and more pastely, this has to be another one of my favourites. I normally tend to stick to reds, pinks and nudes but when I saw this polish, I knew I that I would love it. It's such a gorgeous shade that will really compliment a tan - it will definitely be making it in to my travel bag this summer.

I think that nail varnishes are something you can save your pennies on, especially with trend colours like pastels and neons. All of the nail varnishes I picked up were under a fiver, plus there are always loads of deals on too. Barry M is often on 3 for 3 of 2 for £6, this is great way to pick up a few new shades and maybe try a colour you wouldn't usually go for...

What's been your favourite spring polish so far?
